Come with me for a walk along the Thames, London

Hello and welcome to my first blog article.

You've probably landed on my website because you love traveling as much as I do.

I would like to report on my travels here on the blog in the future. Give tips and tricks or just some travel inspiration. I hope you like it and that it gives you a little wanderlust ;o)

London is my absolute favorite city and one thing I always like to do when I'm in London is walk along the Thames. It's just lovely to stroll along the water and see so many sights. So what are we waiting for, follow me along the Thames Walk...

London Eye England Thames

We start at Westminster Bridge (this bridge is directly between Big Ben and the London Eye) the nearest tube station is Westminster. Walk over the bridge towards the London Eye, from here you also have a great view of Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster.

From the bridge, turn left and walk past the London Eye. (You can also take the subway to Waterloo Station, then you will come out at Jubilee Gardens behind the London Eye)

Continue walking along the Thames, after a while you will come to the Tate Modern, from here the Millenium Bridge leads directly to St. Paul's Cathedral. (A little tip: at the top of the Tate Modern there is a cafe from where you have a great view of the Thames and St. Paul's and you can also take a toilet break ;o) )

Let's move on. Now you walk for a while, past pubs, restaurants, shops, the OXO Tower and it just keeps going. On the left is the Thames, on the right you pass Shakespeare's Globe, a theater.

Unfortunately, I have never been inside, but it is also pretty to look at from the outside.

After a little further you come to the Anchor Pub. A really lovely pub with a great outside area and a view of the Thames.

(the photo is not the best, but when I was walking along the Thames I was caught in a heavy rain shower, I was soaking wet ;o) The Anchor Pub Art Print )

Round the next corner and you'll pass The Clink Prison Museum (gruesome stories of guilt and atonement), diagonally opposite you'll find a typical souvenir shop (good if you really like typical souvenirs, you can find nicer London souvenirs here ;o) ).

A little further on you pass The Golden Hind. This is a replica of Francis Drake's ship.

Just follow the footpath, a short while later you have to cross a bridge. To do this you go up a small staircase and across the street, down the stairs again and then follow the Queen's Walk. But everything is along the Thames. It is also worth looking at the other side of the Thames every now and then. There you can see The Monument, for example. This is a reminder of the great fire in 1666.

Next you will pass the HMS Belfast. This is an old warship that you can also visit.

For me, however, the Hay's Galleria is much nicer. It's a small shopping center with various cafes, restaurants and shops. But it's also worth seeing just for the sake of it.

But just a little bit further and we reach Potters Fields Park with a great view of Tower Bridge and the Tower of London on the other side.

Now you can walk all the way back or continue across the Tower Bridge. Of course you can also look inside or go up to the platform. But I've never done that before, the sight of the Tower Bridge is enough for me. It's such a beautiful building. The blue of the bridge shines so beautifully, especially in the sunshine.

When you walk over the bridge, turn left to the Tower of London, which is very popular for viewing from the inside. But I haven't done that yet. I think that even if it's your first time there, you have to think about whether you want to take your time or whether you'd rather see more of the city.

So here our walk ends. From here you can take the subway from Tower Hill Station.

Of course, you can also start the Thames Walk from the Tower of London. It all depends on your mood or where you are coming from. I also like to walk there and back. But as I said, it all depends on what the rest of your plans are.

I hope you enjoyed our walk.
